Okereke Chinweotito

Introduction: A Journey of Curiosity, Contribution, and Authenticity
My name is Okereke Chinweotito and I haven't stopped staring at a computer monitor ever seen I first laid my eyes on one back in my secondary school. Ok I admit, I exaggerated a bit; I managed to stare away long enough to obtain a Bsc in Computer Science from Imo State University. I love and do everything JavaScript and when I am not screaming at my laptop, I play Call Of Duty Mobile or I continue watching The Mandelorian.
My tech Journey has been driven by raw curiosity and the insatiable drive to know and learn how tech works. That has driven me to the doorstep of outReachy and I am so glad to be a part of this amazing journey.
My Core Values.
-
Curiosity: Curiosity is the spark that powers my learning and creativity. I am always eager to discover new things, ask questions, and challenge myself. I seek to understand how things work and why they matter, why a piece of code is written this way and not that way. I enjoy experimenting with different ideas and approaches, and I learn from my failures and successes
-
Contribution: Contribution is the value that guides me to make a positive difference in the world. I have a desire to share my knowledge, skills, and ideas with others, and to learn from their feedback and perspectives. I also have a responsibility to contribute to the common good, and to support causes and movements that align with my values. I value contribution in others as well, and I respect people who are generous, helpful, and proactive.
-
Authenticity: Being authentic means being true to myself and my values. I donβt pretend to be someone else or follow the crowd. I express myself honestly and respectfully, and I accept myself for who I am. I embrace my strengths and weaknesses, and I work on improving myself every day. I value authenticity in others as well, and I appreciate diversity and uniqueness.
What motivated me to apply to Outreachy.
One word - Open Source. I have always been excited and trilled by the prospect of collaborating with different people spread across the world towards a common cause. This burning passion pushed me towards making Open Source Contributions on GitHub during which I eventually discovered OutReachy. The coming 3 months may be difficult and full of bumps along the way, but I know that this would be a wonderful learning experience and it would prove to be the best 3 months of my life
